<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>Attendance boundaries of all public elementary schools in Wyandotte County, KS, furnished as a polygon feature GIS dataset in Esri shapefile (.shp) format, in Kansas North State Plane coordinates, NAD83 datum, and units are in feet.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>These polygons delineate student attendance areas for each public elementary school. Encoded with each elementary school attendance polygon is attribution of respective middle school and high school assignments for that attendance area. </SPAN><SPAN STYLE="font-weight:bold;">Private schools </SPAN><SPAN>are not included.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>This dataset is the </SPAN><SPAN STYLE="font-style:italic;font-weight:bold;">foundation dataset </SPAN><SPAN>for companion attendance area datasets for middle schools and high schools in Wyandotte County.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Boundary information was obtained by GSS from each respective school district and compiled into this countywide dataset. Boundaries have been reviewed by most school districts and are considered authoritative, but not to a legal or survey standard.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Attribution includes USD number, elementary school name, middle school name, and high school name. Complete for all public elementary schools in Wyandotte County, KS.
Polygon topology present
Boundaries represent elementary school areas, but are also in many cases in fact coincident with middle school and high school boundaries. Encoding in dataset table identifies an elementary school attendance area's heirarchical relationship with its parent middle school (s) and high school.
Boundary line placement is considered good and reliable for most planning and review purposes. No legal boundary descriptions were available to compare against, so boundaries are not to a legal accuracy standard.
This is first edition of countywide elementary school attendance boundaries.
Boundary information from several different sources were combined to produce this dataset, including existing USD 500 and USD 202 boundary layers from outside sources. USD 204 and USD 203 boundaries were digitized via heads up digitizing in the software according to available information. Boundary placement for most part follows street centerlines, or in rare cases, non-street features like stream alignments. Accuracy is good enough for most analysis and review purposes. Boundaries were checked to ensure coincidence with adjacent boundary features (middle school, high school, and school district boundaries).
RSP_KCK2008.mdb was basis for USD500 (Kansas City, KS) school district boundaries. This database had geodatabases for elementary, middle, and high school attendance boundaries within the district. This database was provided by USD500. ES_BND was boundary layer from above for elementary schools.
