Polygon feature layer GIS dataset of United States Public Land Survey System (USPLSS) section grid of Wyandotte County, Kansas in ESRI shapefile format, datum NAD83, Kansas North State Plane coordinate system, and units US feet. USPLSS is a legal land reference system created to enable the description of and transfer of property. This system is divided into townships, ranges, and sections. A section is 1/36th of a township, and also one square mile, or 640 acres, in area. This layer is a representation of the section grid in the County but it was not developed to survey standards, and should not be used for surveying or land conveyance purposes-- except as an overview guide which only approximates sections and their boundaries and section corners (no location accuracy +/- claims are made). Attribution includes section number, township and range designations. Also included are so-called State-ID (Kansas Uniform Parcel Number) assignments for county, township, \"quad\", and section developed by Kansas Property Valuation Division, Cartography Section, to facilitate real property identification uniformly across the state.
