There are several ways to filter water poly features using the data schema. Field Water_Type uses the NHD data categories adopted by Esri Community Maps Local Government model. Field Water_Class classifies water bodies according to a somewhat arbitrary scheme of Pond or Lake (for purposes of this dataset the area size threshold for lake was > 20 acres--therefore ponds are < 20 acres). There are a few exceptions to the water area class rule. Finally, the Name field contains name strings for a small number of county lakes that are known by name.
