Wyandotte County, KS fire department facility location points published as an ESRI shapefile (.shp) format, point feature layer, in US feet units in Kansas North State Plane coordinate system, NAD 83 datum.
Points depicted here include those for fire stations.
Attributes in feature table include name of facility, street address, phone contact numbers, and agency code (e.g. 'KCKFD' for Kansas City Kansas Fire Department). Also included is a field to denote whether a fire station has an ALS EMS unit (ambulance) on duty.
Other datasets in this fire series to complement this one include: facility builidings, facility plan features, facility grounds polys, and facility property polys, as well as an anno label feature dataset designed for 1:7200 scale mapping. Inquire to GSS for more information.
Dataset developed as a public safety theme layer made available to the Unified Government's Enterprise GIS. It is most useful for general mapping at scales between 1:1200 and and 1:7200.

Aerial orthophotography provided snapshot of ground conditions to compare and review features, and as a base for feature extraction (digitization), if required
Fire department facility locations were established by internal review. Facility points were digitized via heads-up digitizing using a planimetric base and digital ortho aerial photography as reference overlays in the softwares.
Attribution was recorded with best available information.
