Wyandotte County Mapping Consortium (Kansas City, KS Public Works departments), Wyandotte County Base Mapping Program [later known as GSS], and Board of Public Utilities in Kansas City, KS) developed specifications for and procured this mapping from MJ Harden Assoc.

Initial desktop research yielded prospective list of local government facilities candidates. Site locations were verified and attribution such as address and phone contact numbers were collected, if available. In GIS software, location points were obtained through heads-up digitizing using digital planimetric footprints as reference basis and aerial imagery as an comparative overlay and verification source. Attribution was added, including x,y coordinate values of points as calculated geometry in the software.

Basic attributes including name and address can be considered as highly accurate. Verified against any city directories, phone books, or web sites if available.
Only one point feature per facility site, as a rule placed in center of main building/complex outline, even if multiple structures exist at the site.
Believed to be fairly comprehensive inventory of local government sites of interest in Wyandotte County but no extensive research was carried out to identify all possible sites for inclusion in this dataset. Users should consider this dataset a good representative snapshot of local public facilities in the County.
No quantifiable accuracy rating is given on this dataset. However, every point feature is believed to be centered properly on its designated facility/site main building/complex, as checked against aerial imagery of high resolution, which is rated by the vendor as meeting NMAS.
No field data collection/verification was performed in creation of this dataset.
