This dataset represents day care (child care) facilities that are licensed by State of Kansas to operate in Wyandotte County, KS. It is a point feature layer distributed in Esri Shapefile (.shp) data format, in Kansas North State Plane coordinates, Datum NAD83, in units feet. These day care sites provide formal child care during the day by providers who are not the child's legal guardians. Many of these facilities are operated by a single individual out of their house. Other for-profit day cares may be owned/operated/franchised by day care businesses. Still others may be operated by non-profit organizations such as churches or local governments. This dataset contains a table listing day care name, address, and telephone contact number. It also has information about the capacity (number of children that can be accomodated onsite) of each facility.
