<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>Polygon feature layer GIS dataset of United States Public Land Survey System (USPLSS) quarter-sections grid of Wyandotte County, Kansas in ESRI shapefile format, datum NAD83, Kansas North State Plane coordinate system, and units US feet. USPLSS is a legal land reference system created to facilitate the description of and transfer of property. This system is divided into townships, ranges, and sections ( a further subdivision of sections creates quarter-sections-- a quarter-section of land is 1/4th of a USPLSS section). A quarter-section is also one-quarter square mile, or 160 acres, in area. This layer is a representation of the quarter-section grid in the County but it was not developed to survey standards, and should not be used for surveying or land conveyance purposes-- except as an overview guide which only approximates quarter-sections and their boundaries and section corners (no location accuracy +/- claims are made). Attribution includes standard 1/4 section aliquot part position within a section (NE, NW, SE, SW), section number, township and range designations, plus an internal base map numbering system (1-666) that uses quarter-sections as a tiling scheme. Also included are so-called State-ID (Kansas Uniform Parcel Number) assignments for county, township, "quad", and others developed by Kansas Property Valuation Division, Cartography Section, to facilitate real property identification uniformly across the state. The State-ID was designed primarily with traditional manual casdastral (land parcel) mapping in mind.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV> |
